Anya is a staff writer for the upcoming Netflix series IN FROM THE COLD from creator Adam Glass. She is also in development on her first feature film TAMINEX, which was selected for the Black List/Women in Film Screenwriting Lab, the Film Independent Screenwriting Lab, IFP’s Project Week, and the ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship.

Anya was born in Moscow, Russia, and immigrated with her family to Columbus, Ohio as a child before receiving a B.A. in Literature from Yale University and an M.F.A. in Film Directing from Columbia University, where her thesis film TEMMA won an Alfred P. Sloan Production Grant as well as Faculty Selects.

Her short film BERATED WOMAN screened at over 20 international film festivals and was nationally broadcast on Out TV and the Logo Network as part of “The Click List: Best in Short Film.” She was commissioned by the Open Society Institute to make BALKA, a documentary on the HIV epidemic in Eastern Europe, which has screened for 3 million viewers online and been used as a Harm Reduction teaching tool worldwide.  Her most recent short film, THE PROFESSOR, starring Betsy Brandt from “Breaking Bad,” won Best Action/Adventure Short at Comic-Con International.

Meksin was commissioned by Gidden Media to write the sci-fi thriller script THE ALGORITHM and is currently developing several other original series and films. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and frequent collaborator William Gerrard.
